This April, after another cracking but busy season in the wedding world in Wanaka & Queenstown, we wanted to create something a little different with full creative freedom and our own vision. With some incredible local talent – A chic farm wedding editorial was born – ‘Cow-lab’ as we like to call it.
As any creative, particularly in the wedding industry its often easy to lay eyes on trends that are running strong (sometimes for longer than one season!). As beautiful as most of them are, it can often make weddings start to feel a little ‘same-same’.
Weddings are such a unique thing to each couple. Which is why we as vendors and creatives think it’s so important to remind you as a wife or husband-to-be, that even though it can be easy to get caught up with current trends, we want to encourage people to be a little bold and stick to your vision. We absolutely love it when couples include elements that might be out of the ordinary to match their vibe, personality and individual style, be it romantic & soft or loud & out there.
Be it a pair of red bands – once the heels have been kicked off -to represent the farmer in you, or a vintage multi-layered veil inspired from your grandmother’s wedding day. Perhaps its bright and fabulous florals, matched with some interesting textures rather than all white. A cake that people will WOW at, because of its authenticity. Or the festival picnic vibes instead of a sit down dinner because a dance party reflects you better than being served a three course meal. Maybe you won’t even wear white or a dress for that matter!

We loved the ‘Spring’ mini dress from Hera Couture as it gave us chic wedding vibes, yet still super playful and cute due to its length. The beautiful, playful ruffle that gathers around the bust and the back. The Caitlin Crisp dresses were a perfect dose of elegant yet playful colours to match the epic floral arrangements by Asta – she’s an absolute wizard! With napkins, cake & styling elements being part of the stand out details to tie the vibe together – topped off with some disco balls, some friendly cows & champagne, we created something a little different to the usual Central Otago wedding! We hope this inspires you to create something unique for your own events!
